marko zubak's custom leechoso

so very sweet to have the leechoso line up feature this awesome custom from marko zubak aka yebomaycu.

marko is one of my favorite paper artists, his ye-Bot is hall of fame, and his style is definitive. you see one of his toys and you know it's his. so needless to say, it's an honor.

i really dig how he dealt with the cycloptic eye, and his interpretation on the mouths can only be described as sea anemone-esque. and how cool are those feet?

how to build a leechoso paper toy

PRINT asked that i put together a tutorial on how i build my toys. so i figured it'd be a great excuse to design another leechoso. kind of a "special edition" if you will.

so, here he is, and HERE is where you can read the bit on how to make him, and where to find him. should you decide to do so, we'd love to see pictures...

new custom leechoso by abz!

i'm beyond stoked to introduce the newest addition to the [ever growing?] leechoso series. this, my fine friends, is doze. he is brought to us by the amazing Abz, and i must admit, i was "full-on kevin's mom" when i saw doze for the first time. and when i made him, i had to keep pinching myself as a reminder that i had something to do with this "killer" toy. but all the credit goes to Abz for her amazing custom.

doze joins salazad's boss, and horrorwood's miasma in the family, and quite frankly i feel very blessed to be a part of it. a huge thank you!

now, a little more about doze:

"Doze aka The Sandman is lethal. One only needs to observe the patterning on his skin to know this. He worked as a freelance 'cleaner'. His favorite movie is Kill Bill Vol. 1. Whispering 'wiggle your big toe' just before pulling the trigger became a ritual. In 2005, he retired from the syndicate to pursue his true passion, music. He now sings lead and backup vocals for his hugely successful rock band, Kiddo's Black Mamba."

miasma, a custom leechoso by horrorwood

i'm very grateful and humbled to present miasma into the small but growing leechoso family. considering jack lives in japan i'm just thrilled to know my friend and his family are alright.

esoteric to the nth degree, miasma represents many layers of thought and interpretation. i never in my wildest dreams ever considered this toy going to the places horrorwood has taken it. thank you! DOWNLOAD

salazad's custom for our leechoso!

we extended an invite to some of our favorite designers in the paper toy universe to customize up the leechoso. results are coming in and we couldn't be more honored to feature these amazing mash-ups.

first to roll in? salazad's appropriately nicked "cyclops boss."

not too much is known about the boss other than he was placed in the witness protection program in 1979. well that, and the ladies love him.

salazad is hosting this template, which you can find HERE

phizzmo, a leechoso • by baykiddead

so, this is phizzmo. second in the leechoso series. as you can see, this guy has wings.

phizzmo eats mosquitos. he eats mosquitos like a fat kid eats cake. he scored 1600 on the SAT. he reads tom robbins and only goes surfing when it's overhead and breaking left. he prefers high-fives over the fist-bump. he never calls it soccer. he always advises safe words, when he bites he never lets go. he only takes whipped cream on his mochas between thanksgiving and new year's day. his rendition of bette midler's "the rose" will have you in tears and begging him to stop. he'll segue perfectly into the "piano man."

he taught michael how to moonwalk and has set many deep-sea diving records. he's allergic to fish but can drink clamato. he chooses not to. he always gets extra man on missile command.

fiendly, a leechoso • by baykiddead

this is my first crack at a toy of my own.

it's name is fiendly, a monster from the species leechosomus cyclopticus. we commonly know it as a leechoso. for those of you unfamiliar with the leechoso, they're extremely social but for obvious reasons are rarely engaged in conversation by others. they prefer punk rock [and not the lame teeny-bopper sh*t that passes for it these days]. they collect 2 things passionately, old handbills from CBGB's and outdated paper currency from countries using the EU. it's favorite being the koruna. it has a voracious appetite, eating any kind of berry and as much spinach as it can find, though it loves chocolate-coated espresso beans and cartoons from playboy magazine.

one last thing, it can change it's height on a whim, usually shrinking when mad or depressed. conversely it'll grow to it's full height [23.5 cm] when it's happy. some have reported seeing it reach almost 27 cm., but that was during a 1980 bauhaus concert in berlin.
